‘John Martin’s Fashion Advertising’ Article By Peter Barnes.
 

Fashion was the cornerstone of the John Martin’s department store, and a lot of work went into creating great fashion advertising for brochures, posters, newspaper ads, and TV commercials.

The image on this post is the front cover for a John Martin’s brochure during my time with Young & Rubicam Retail in Adelaide, South Australia.

I worked on the John Martin’s department store advertising account with Ogilvy & Mather in the mid 1980s, and with Young & Rubicam Retail in the late 1980s, up until January 1990.
 
I was Senior Art Director and Group Head at Ogilvy & Mather and Senior Art Director, Creative Group Head, Creative Director, and Acting General Manager at Young & Rubicam Retail.
 
Below is a favourite fashion photograph for the John Martin’s Department Store when I worked on the department store’s advertising account with Ogilvy & Mather in Adelaide.
